  Recently I was fortunate enough to purchase a new car and gave my old Elantra to my son and his wife. My son thought it best to bring it to Speedy to get the safety done, as I had been dealing with them for several years. In fact, I had just been there to have my winter tires installed. When my son brought the car in, he was told it needed $1500 worth of work, including all new brakes and fuel lines. None of this had been mentioned to me when I had been in a few weeks earlier!! When my son asked if his Mom had been driving an unsafe car, he was told "Not really." I can't believe that Speedy on Fennell would take advantage of a situation like this and tell my son that the car needed work that wasn't necessary. I will certainly NOT recommend this shop to friends and colleagues.

  This shop takes advantage of the clueless. Took my mom's 07 Elantra in for a safety, that had been there a month ago (and serviced there for years before that) with no issues, and all of a sudden it needs all new brake lines, fuel lines and all four brakes serviced, as well as a few other issues (1500 ballpark I was told). Asked the guy at the counter how they missed all these issues a month ago and he said "no idea bud". So I asked him if that meant they let my mom drive around in an unsafe car and he said "not really". So either they're scamming me or they're completely clueless, I wonder which. Will never go back and would never recommend them to anyone.

  Edit 2: I have emailed customer service as the owner suggested, asking for a refund for this obvious attempted scam, and have received no reply in a week, not even a refusal. Seems the owner just wants to make it look like he's dealing with the situation, when he really could care less, he already has my money. Terrible, dishonest shop with a dishonest owner it seems.

  Edit: had the car safety done by a friend's mechanic, it passed after fixing a couple minor issues. Spent less than Speedy charged for their "safety". Avoid this shop like the plague.

  Had a Safety done in another province just recently then moved to Ontario. I passed the test back home but when I went here they said I needed $1,600 worth of work to pass... tried to force me to buy all new tires when mine still had lots of life in them. Had to wait 2 hours past my appointment time. Will not go back.

  My daughter was there today for an oil change told Andy (Mechanic) might be a little leak from the transmission drain plug. He replaced the gasket on it and topped it up. N/C . Great service and very honest repair place. Wont take my vehicles any where else but here. Thanks Andy

  Jamie, Andy, and the guys are phenomenal. Always quick, pleasant, and above all realistic. They always tell you exactly what's going on, show you the isses and explain all possible courses of action. Cars will always be expensive but these guys take the sting out of fixes because you know they recommend only what is necessary. I never take my cars anywhere else - these guys are the best!
